More Details JazzUP! proudly presents… MORTEN SCHANTZ!

“A word of warning. Before playing Morten Schantz’s Godspeed please fasten your safety-belt. You are about to be catapulted into the power-packed, high-energy risk-taking territory where big beasts like Chick Corea’s Return To Forever, The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Weather Report once roamed.” - JazzWise Magazine (UK)

Morten Schantz is a pianist, composer and bandleader born 1980 in Aarhus, Denmark. In January 2017 he released his first international album, "Godspeed", on Edition Records, his 9th overall. Schantz has won several awards based on his work with JazzKamikaze where he is the primary songwriter as well as receiving two grammy nominations for his solo work, most recently as 'Jazz Composer of the Year’. Described as a “keyboard dynamo” and “dazzling” by the legendary US jazz magazine, Downbeat, Schantz hits us with a fantastic new band featuring long-term collaborators. Utilising an impressive array of electronics with all the skill and virtuosity at their command this trio generate some of the most vibrant and vital music to burst onto the European scene in recent times.

Morten is joined by:

James Mainwaring - sax

"James Mainwaring’s tenor saxophone playing is hands down the most impressive and challenging I’ve witnessed in the last few years, and the blasts that drive the opener forward were thrilling…..otherworldly."- Clive Paris, Rozario (AAA Music)

Stefan Pasborg (DK) - drums

“Stefan Pasborg definitely proved that he is one of the best young drummers in Europe”- Jazz Podium, Germany
