A unique performer whose music is inspired by Hindu mysticism; his music includes deeply devotional songs, lush instrumentals and highly rhythmic pieces featuring audience participation! From sublime ambience to ecstatic exuberance, he accompanies his original songs on an amazing array of instruments from all around the world!

His awe-inspiring kit includes sitar, didgeridoo, tabla, tamboura, flutes, veena, zither, singing bowls, ting shas, gongs, carrillion, balafon, djembe, darabuka, drum kit and shruti box.

A name from which inspiration was provided from whales being named as a scientific study in California by a friend of the band. Naturally, the band deemed this to be an apt description of their personality, something which they strive to reflect in their eclectic collection of self penned songs, which draw inspiration from personal life experience.

Hitchin bases Sukhi Rayat has been performing at Rhythms of the World, since very first event in fact, and has introduced many young musicians to the festival. It is a mighty pleasure to welcome him back once again!
