New Hitchin band Luna and Simone make dazzling, high-energy psychedelic rock, evocative of 60s power trio the Jimi Hendrix Experience, rock giants Led Zeppelin and the early work of contemporary artists Tame Impala and Pond. Luna and Simone were launched in January by talented guitarist James Luck, local artist and bassist Elliot Simpson-Rooke and jazz drummer Joe Keech. This diverse and technically gifted line up started writing original material whilst travelling across India, and upon their return in June were joined by lyricist, singer and poet Seb Gale. The band is underpinned by a solid rhythm section incorporating powerful grooves from multiple genres including funk and reggae, and is embellished with huge guitar riffs as well as intricate and expressive solos. Over the top of this float Gale’s dreamy lyrics, brought to life by a rich, melodious voice. Luna and Simone will headline their event ‘Moonrise’ at Club 85 on Saturday 17th August alongside Amy Simms, Hunybees, and Artifact 96. They hope to release their debut LP ‘The Moon and the Mirror’ later this year.
