DESCRIPTION:Following a sell-out show at Club 85 in 2024 we are very pleased to announce the return of The Smyths to Club 85 on Saturday 24th May 2025. \n2025 sees the 40th anniversary of The Smiths’ legendary second album “Meat is Murder”. Arguably the band’s most controversial release (the band considered it as a protest album)\, not only did it do more than anything in pop culture to encourage a generation to become vegetarians\, it was the first album to introduce Morrissey’s criticism of the Royal Family. Coming a year on from the band’s debut\, “Meat Is Murder” showed the band moving it’s musical might to a muscular new sound (whilst still maintaining it’s ability to produce heart-breaking beautiful songs). \nThe Smyths present “Meat is Murder “a show that will celebrate the album alongside a full collection of classic hits and more from The Smiths. \n  \nTickets priced £18 are on sale from now from Seetickets\, and locally from the venue and H Town Rags in Hitchin\, or David’s Music in Letchworth! \nDoors: 7:30pm \nTicket link: https://www.seetickets.com/event/the-smyths/club-85 \n  \nAge: Persons aged 16+ may attend without a chaperone provided they have photo ID – younger patrons can be signed in at the door and accompanied for the duration of the show by a responsible adult. \nEarplugs are available upon request (50p). \nDownstairs bar open until 1am. \nWe are just a 5-minute stroll from the station.; like all our gigs this show finishes well in time for the last trains North and South to Cambridge\, Peterborough and London. \nFor full up to the minute listings please consider signing up to our mailing list for information on existing and upcoming gigs straight to you!
