DESCRIPTION:The St Chris Jazz and World Music Ensemble + Dele Sosimi & Afal Sackey\n  \nFor an evening of Afrobeat\, Hilife\, R&B\, Soul\, Latin Jazz\, Soul Jazz\, and more\, join us March 25th to see the amazing Jazz and World Music Ensemble of St Chris\, joined by special guests Dele Sosimi and Afal Sackey! \n\nDele Sosimi\nDele Sosimi was rhythm keyboard player for Nigerian Afrobeat creator Fela Kuti and his band EGYPT 80 between 1979-1986. He left to form The Positive Force with Fela’s son Femi Kuti. Now based in London and playing with his own Afrobeat Orchestra\, expect nothing but the funkiest rhythm guitars\, fiery percussion\, call and response vocals and blazing horns\, faithful to the original blueprint\, but also clearly bears Dele’s own DNA. \nHe has performed worldwide\, including at London’s Jazz café and South Bank\, Joe Zawinuls Birdland in Vienna\, Montreux Jazz Festival and Womad. \nAfal Sackey\nGhanaian-born percussionist\, vocalist and composer started his creative life as a dancer with the Bukom Ensemble of Ghana\, known for their folk-driven rhythms. Sackey’s elders soon recognised the musical potential of this youth and encouraged him with careful guidance and training. \nAlfa’s talent has been recognised by many well established musicians whom he has collaborated with and recorded as a session musician. Great artists such as Sun Ra\, Ginger Baker\, Seun Kuti\, Sons of Kemet\, Tony Allen\, Yaaba Funk\, Dele Sosimi and many more. \n  \nENTRY Available on the door £7.50 for Students\, and £12.50 for Adults\nDOORS 7pm \n  \nAge: persons aged 16+ may attend without a chaperone provided they have photo ID- younger patrons can be signed in at the door and accompanied for the duration of the show by a responsible adult. \nEarplugs are available upon request. \nDownstairs bar open until 1am. \nWe are just a 5-minute stroll from the station; like all our gigs this show finishes well in time for the last trains North and South to Cambridge\, Peterborough and London. \nFor full up to the minute listings please consider signing up to our mailing list for information on existing and upcoming gigs straight to you! \nAnd remember… Club 85 loves you! xo
