DESCRIPTION:STIPE – THE DEFINITIVE R.E.M TRIBUTE7:30pm Fri 27th November\, Club 85\, Hitchin\nPleased to announce the debut visit to CLUB 85 of STIPE – THE DEFINITIVE R.E.M TRIBUTE on Fri 27th Nov.\n\nR.E.M.\, from Athens\, Georgia are widely credited as pioneers of alternative rock\, influencing countless bands who would follow\, including Nirvana\, Pearl Jam\, and Radiohead.\nThis much-loved band remain a model for young musicians everywhere: a band who always did things on their own terms\, a band committed to doing the right thing for each other (such as splitting royalties equally)\, and never compromising on their artistic independence. They called it a day\, on their own terms\, in 2011\, and have repeatedly ruled out ever reuniting.\nWe\, the musicians who make up ‘Stipe’ are committed to holding true to the sound and overall aesthetic of R.E.M.\, so that our fellow fans\, old and new\, can experience the magic of hearing these songs played live with care\, conviction\, and affection. As huge fans of the band\, we take the music (if not ourselves) seriously.\nIconic songs such as ‘Losing My Religion’ and ‘Everybody Hurts’ are recreated note-for-note\, while Richard Southern’s studied vocal pays homage to Michael Stipe’s unique voice and enigmatic performance style.\nHaving played to tens of thousands of people all over the UK and Europe\, and not least to Michael Stipe himself on the ‘One Show’ (Michael described us as ‘awesome’)\, we remain committed to putting R.E.M.’s music on stages across the UK\, Europe and beyond.\n\nTickets are ON sale from Seetickets and available from local outlets\n  \nDOORS 7.30pm\nENTRY £16 advance (plus online booking fees)/more on the door. \n  \nAge: persons aged 16+ may attend without a chaperone provided they have photo ID- younger patrons can be signed in at the door and accompanied for the duration of the show by a responsible adult. \nEarplugs are available upon request. \nDownstairs bar open until 1am. \nWe are just a 5-minute stroll from the station; like all our gigs this show finishes well in time for the last trains North and South to Cambridge\, Peterborough and London. \nFor full up to the minute listings please consider signing up to our mailing list for information on existing and upcoming gigs straight to you! \nAnd remember… Club 85 loves you! xo
