DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce THE METEORS will be playing Club 85 in Hitchin for the very first time on Friday 4th April \nTHE METEORS were formed in 1980 in a reaction to the bands that were singing about ‘Big Green Cars’\, ‘Rocking This Town’ and being ‘Rockabilly Rebels’. Preferring their songs to contain topics about vampires\, stomping in graveyards and radioactive kids P. Paul Fenech\, Mark Robertson and Nigel Lewis soon found themselves all over the media. A media who were eagerly lapping up their new sound christened (though that is surely not the right word) – ‘Psychobilly’. \nTHE METEORS were front page news in the weekly music press\, recording radio sessions and interviews for legends like John Peel\, and gracing the silver screen care of a movie short that did the rounds with the Two-Tone movie ‘Dance Craze’. Their film ‘Meteor Madness’\, apart from hosting some crazed performances with the unhinged trio\, also featured songstress Lily Allen’s father starring as none other than the rather exasperated Devil\, strange but true. \nBy 1982 the original line-up had split\, with Lewis and Robertson going on to form their own bands\, while P. Paul forged ahead with a free hand with THE METEORS and his idea of how psychobilly should sound. That was a sound that had grown from one of a band’s own personal identity to a world-wide genre that is Psychobilly now over 30 years established and still growing and thriving around the globe. THE METEORS have continued to inspire and influence countless bands while continuing to lead the charge from the very vanguard. \n‘The Power Of 3’ is the latest studio album by the undisputed ‘Kings Of Psychobilly’. It is as uncompromising as ever and encompasses all the elements that have always made up THE METEORS brand of ‘Pure Psychobilly’\, mashing up rockabilly\, country\, surf and rock’n’roll. This tour will bring a fresh\, stripped-back sound as we present a new side to the Kleptocracy album\, dive deeper into our back catalogue\, and also paying homage to traditional folk songs that have inspired Ferocious Dog from the start. \nWhile Kleptocracy saw us expanding our sound with heavier rock influences and more Celtic elements\, this tour will offer a different kind of intensity rooted in the raw\, unfiltered energy of acoustic instruments (with a little help from the microphones). We want to give our fans an up-close and personal experience of our music\, offering a more intimate performance. \nThe acoustic setlist will include fan favourites from throughout our career\, reimagined with an even folkier twist\, alongside renditions of traditional folk songs that reflect the same themes of resistance and rebellion present in Kleptocracy. DESCRIPTION:Ion Maiden Formed in August 2018\, Ion Maiden was built around the core of four ex-members of some of the best Maiden tribute bands in the UK\, and with only one rehearsal their first gig was an instant success with Maiden fans. \nSince they exploded onto the scene the band have played Holland\, various clubs throughout the UK\, and London raising over £3\,000 towards the Legend that is the late Paul Di’Anno at the Camden Underworld\, who was blown away by the video footage that was sent to him in Croatia. \nMore recently they were honoured to be asked to open the “Birthplace of Iron Maiden” the Cart & Horses after its lengthy refurbishment\, with support from another Iron Maiden stars band\, Doug Sampson (Airforce) the original drummer of the soundhouse tapes. \nWith a new singer on board the band are now putting on some of the most authentic maiden shows you’ll see\, apart from the real Iron Maiden that is! \nNo strangers to Club 85 this is always a very busy night ! \nTickets priced £13 advance can be bought online from Seetickets from Friday 1st November and available from the local outlets of Bar 85\, H Town Wax and Rags and Davids Music Hitchin. \n14+ only. 14s to 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
