Their second release on Tim Armstrong’s legendary Hellcat Records is a thumping 15 track tour de force melding the uncompromising ethos of punk with the howl of contemporary injustice\, personal identity and frustrations of Gen-Z youth\, authentically told by three lads with punk coursing through their veins.\nFormed on their native Isle of Wight when they were just 14 years old\, Jack Chatfield (guitar & vocals)\, Jacob Hull (drums) and Sid Ryan (bass & vocals) honed their craft covering punk pioneers before creating a sound uniquely theirs: ten years on\, the eponymous ‘Grade 2’ is their magnus opus. From the complex rhythms and brutal two-note guitar of opening track ‘Judgement Day’\, the record grabs by the scruff of the neck and never lets up.\nWith a commitment to the cause\, lead single ‘Doing Time’ is a thunderous hardcore punk track screaming “Spoon feed me corporate lies; I left that place with a noose to my neck.” Intertwined are upbeat bangers (‘Under the Streetlight’\, ‘Celine’)\, classic pop-punk (‘Don’t Stand Alone’\, ‘Fast Pace’)\, and savage old-school grit (‘Parasite’\, ‘Gaslight’). DESCRIPTION:Club85 Presents\nOZRIC TENTACLES + Guest \nOzric Tentacles are regarded as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK’s festival scene\, formed during the solstice at Stonehenge Free Festival 1983 going on to become psychedelic staples at Glastonbury and other festivals. The creative vision of multi-instrumentalist Ed Wynne\, the Ozrics’ uniquely trippy soundscapes connect fans of progressive rock\, psychedelia and dance music culture.   \nIn the 1980s the band built a fan base on the festival circuit and made a series of cassette releases\, sold at gigs and via a fan club. Their first label release was Pungent Effulgent in 1989\, which was also re-released in the early 2000s\, packaged with Strangeitude. This was followed by Erpland (1990)\, an album dedicated to Erp\, a character who appears on many of the band’s album artworks. 1991 saw the Strangeitude LP. The track “Sploosh!” was used by BMW in an advertising campaign and became the band’s only single. By 1993 their Jurassic Shift album reached the top ten of the U.K. album charts. \nOver the years the band has gone through many line-up changes\, with only Ed Wynne (guitar and keyboards) maintaining a constant presence. The sonically illustrated excursion through the musical realms the band have explored has resulted in 17 albums to date\, with their latest\, Lotus Unfolding\, released in their 40th anniversary year. DESCRIPTION:The Pad Presents \nPleased to announce we are bringing the legendary Tom Robinson Band to Club 85 in Hitchin for the very first time on Friday 25th October. \nBorn in Cambridge in 1950\, Tom Robinson first became known in the late 1970s as a musician and LGBT activist with the Tom Robinson Band (TRB) who were early supporters of Rock Against Racism and Amnesty International. In 1977 their Top 5 debut release 2-4-6-8 Motorway became one of the landmark singles of the UK punk era. Other hits included Glad To Be Gay\, Up Against The Wall and the band’s debut album Power In The Darkness which went gold in the UK and Japan. \nAs a solo artist Tom had further solo hits in 1983 with War Baby and Atmospherics: Listen To The Radio\, and co-wrote songs with Peter Gabriel\, Elton John and Dan Hartman. In 2015 he released Only The Now – made with award winning producer Gerry Diver – with many guests including Billy Bragg\, John Grant\, Martin Carthy and Ian McKellen. It can be heard in full on Spotify\, You Tube & Bandcamp. \nAs a radio broadcaster Tom hosts two shows a week on BBC Radio 6 Music. He has won two Sony Radio Academy awards and served as a member of the Ivor Novello Awards committee for 15 years. DESCRIPTION:The Soul Music Collective \nThe Soul Music Collective  is a local band of like-minded musicians and singers who love soul music. The band have been together for 6 years; however\, they have musical experience going back 40 years. Yes\, they started really young\, really young! \nAs individual singers and musicians\, they have played on radio\, TV and countries around the world\, playing for soul and gospel artists. \nIt’s a family affair when it comes to the bass player and the singers. Kevin\, the band leader is married to Elaine and the other singer Sonia\, is Kevin’s sister. \nThey celebrate the genre and music of artists such as Aretha Franklin\, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.  \nWith over 40 songs in their repertoire\, there will definitely be something for people to sing and dance to. DESCRIPTION:We’re very excited to be bringing the purveyors of ‘maximum rockgrass’\, Hayseed Dixie to Club 85\, Hitchin for the first and (possibly) last time on Thursday 17th October. \n\nHayseed Dixie began one innocent Summer day in 2000 when John Wheeler and Mike Daly drank roughly enough whiskey to float a battleship from the Florida Coast over to Portugal and back and decided to play around in John’s studio. Having spent the previous few years touring around with assorted country hat-acts\, John had assembled a proper pile of recording equipment. Thus when he and Mike discovered in their drunken epiphany that the Lost Highway of Reverend Hank Williams and the Highway to Hell of Bishop Bon Scott were indeed the same identical stretch of tarmac\, they were well and truly prepared to document this revelation in situ. \nEast Nashville\, Tennessee in the Summer of 2000 was a proper Bohemian party place\, and a few friends stopped by\, drank some of John’s whiskey\, and played and sang on this recording here and there\, as was the custom of the times. And ten AC/DC songs were suddenly reimagined and recorded forever anew\, entirely reinvented as Appalachian Mountain hillbilly rave-ups. Everyone danced (oh how they danced!) around the studio room and out onto the porch and drank more whiskey. (You should have been there. Really.
