There wouldn’t have been assorted band member casualties along the way\, for starters\, as life on the road took its toll. These guys are all about filthy\, in-your-face energy and no-bullshit\, politically charged chaos. They’ve got a reputation for blowing the roof off every joint they play with blistering speed\, reckless anthems\, and lyrics that hit harder than a hangover. Their brand of punk? Pure\, unfiltered\, punch-you-in-the-guts madness. The lineup’s a family affair: Fred on guitar and vocals\, his brother Kyle on drums\, and their mate Joe on bass. These three aren’t just a band\, they’re a fucking force. They’re taking a hard\, unflinching look at the UK\, screaming their way through the mess the higher ups are making\, and demanding we do better. It’s all about unity\, and they’re dragging you along for the ride whether you’re ready or not. \nLeft Ventricle are a dynamic alternative rock three piece band from Hertfordshire\, also based in Brighton.\nDrawing influences from Royal Blood\, QOTSA\, Jack White and Nirvana\, their infectious melodies combined with the unique song writing of Stan Cooper\, the guitarist and lead vocals\, speaks directly of their generation fusing both melancholy with attack.\nStan’s raw vocals and soaring guitar riffs united with Danny Butler on bass and Rowan Scourfield on drums driving the energy that fuels their live performances of their truly original material. \nBlack Carrot are a 3 piece Punk/Pop Punk/Rock group from Hertfordshire. Playing a set from each band and producing a show that will have the audience up and dancing from the off\, Special Kinda Madness will have everyone hankering after that exciting era of 2-Tone and ska. \nOn 21st July 1979 at the Electric Ballroom in London\, the Specials played a gig with Madness\, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and Selecter. That’s a gig that all 2-Tone rude boys and rude girls would die to see\, and thought would never happen. DESCRIPTION:Club85 Presents\nOZRIC TENTACLES + Guest \nOzric Tentacles are regarded as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK’s festival scene\, formed during the solstice at Stonehenge Free Festival 1983 going on to become psychedelic staples at Glastonbury and other festivals. The creative vision of multi-instrumentalist Ed Wynne\, the Ozrics’ uniquely trippy soundscapes connect fans of progressive rock\, psychedelia and dance music culture.   \nIn the 1980s the band built a fan base on the festival circuit and made a series of cassette releases\, sold at gigs and via a fan club. Their first label release was Pungent Effulgent in 1989\, which was also re-released in the early 2000s\, packaged with Strangeitude. This was followed by Erpland (1990)\, an album dedicated to Erp\, a character who appears on many of the band’s album artworks. 1991 saw the Strangeitude LP. The track “Sploosh!” was used by BMW in an advertising campaign and became the band’s only single. By 1993 their Jurassic Shift album reached the top ten of the U.K. album charts. \nOver the years the band has gone through many line-up changes\, with only Ed Wynne (guitar and keyboards) maintaining a constant presence. The sonically illustrated excursion through the musical realms the band have explored has resulted in 17 albums to date\, with their latest\, Lotus Unfolding\, released in their 40th anniversary year. DESCRIPTION:The Bluetones + The Loose Cut \n“The Bluetones are a band tied to their Brit Pop past but with tunes that begin to transcend it too” – Louder Than War \nThe Bluetones first came to prominence in 1995\, when their debut release ‘Are You Blue Or Are You Blind’ broke into the Top 40. The single proved to be the launching pad for a run that saw 14 hit singles and 6 albums follow on from it. From thereon\, the band\, made up of brothers Mark & Scott Morriss alongside Adam Devlin and Eds Chesters\, enjoyed considerable UK and Ireland successes\, extending out across into Europe and Japan\, before taking a hiatus in 2011 that lasted for 4 years. Since then they have re-established themselves as one of the UK’s most consistently entertaining live acts\, regularly touring their extensive catalogue to their army of devoted fans. \n2024 will see the release of the first new Bluetones material in 14 years\, and promises to be as exciting a year for the group as they’ve ever enjoyed. DESCRIPTION:The Pad Presents \nPleased to announce we are bringing the legendary Tom Robinson Band to Club 85 in Hitchin for the very first time on Friday 25th October. \nBorn in Cambridge in 1950\, Tom Robinson first became known in the late 1970s as a musician and LGBT activist with the Tom Robinson Band (TRB) who were early supporters of Rock Against Racism and Amnesty International. In 1977 their Top 5 debut release 2-4-6-8 Motorway became one of the landmark singles of the UK punk era. Other hits included Glad To Be Gay\, Up Against The Wall and the band’s debut album Power In The Darkness which went gold in the UK and Japan. \nAs a solo artist Tom had further solo hits in 1983 with War Baby and Atmospherics: Listen To The Radio\, and co-wrote songs with Peter Gabriel\, Elton John and Dan Hartman. In 2015 he released Only The Now – made with award winning producer Gerry Diver – with many guests including Billy Bragg\, John Grant\, Martin Carthy and Ian McKellen. It can be heard in full on Spotify\, You Tube & Bandcamp. \nAs a radio broadcaster Tom hosts two shows a week on BBC Radio 6 Music. He has won two Sony Radio Academy awards and served as a member of the Ivor Novello Awards committee for 15 years. The band have been together for 6 years; however\, they have musical experience going back 40 years.
