Featuring Ilario Ferrari on piano and vocals, Charlie Pyne on double bass and vocals, and Katie Patterson on drums and vocals, this trio one of the most exciting acts on the UK jazz scene, and will be showcasing new material and arrangements to be featured on their
highly anticipated second album. In addition, Ilario’s new album “Be Yourself” will be released on April 21st, and we’re thrilled to have this music played for the first time here at JazzUp.
Their debut album ‘Childhood memories’ was nominated “One of the best jazz albums in 2021” by the magazine Jazzists. It has been streamed and playlisted on radio in the USA, Germany, UK (Jazz London radio, London One Radio, Jazz FM), Russia, Japan, Brazil,
France, Poland, Spain and Italy.

Omar Puente
Joining the trio will be internationally acclaimed Cuban jazz violinist Omar Puente. Omar’s career is extraordinary, from being first violin of the Cuban National Symphonic Orchestra to touring with musicians like Ruben Gonzales (Buena Vista Social Club) Courtney Pyne and Denys Baptiste. Omar is, as Nigel Kennedy said, a “true violin great”. Omar tours extensively with his own sextet, incorporating contemporary jazz into his traditional Cuban heritage.
Ilario and Omar have become good friends over the past year and have played together in a variety of ensembles, developing a duo project called “Mediterranean meets Cuba.” At JazzUp they will play music from this project in a quartet format and will be taking you on a journey from Cuba to the shores of south Italy and back, exploring new possibilities derived from a fusion the Afro-Cuban Jazz tradition and Mediterranean culture.

Our resident JazzUP DJ Sten King delivers that unique JazzUp vibe. Sten is well known as a presenter of acclaimed hip hop radio shows such as ‘The Boom Bap Boutique’, and has built a reputation as the DJ that the musicians love as much as the audience.
