As we prepare for our upcoming JazzUp event at Club 85, we find ourselves reflecting on the countless nights of music, camaraderie, and community that this venue has fostered.
Club 85 has been more than just a building; it has been a cornerstone of Hitchin’s vibrant music scene, nurturing artists and delighting audiences for decades.
Right now, the future of Club 85 is uncertain. But one thing is clear: the more of you who come to this event, the greater the chance Club 85 has of surviving, and the more opportunity JazzUp has to grow, evolve, and continue bringing world-class jazz to Hitchin.

About Club 85’s Future
As many of you may know, the owners, Jas and Ranjit Lidder, have announced their plans to retire by 2025 after serving the community for so many years. This decision, driven by health and well-being considerations, has led to discussions about redeveloping the site, potentially transforming this beloved venue into residential apartments.
That makes this JazzUp more significant than ever—it could be the last one at Club 85, but it doesn’t have to be. The energy, enthusiasm, and sheer presence of a full house can make all the difference.
Join us for an evening that promises to be both nostalgic and exhilarating. Our featured band comprises gifted musicians who will perform a selection of hard bop and groove- based jazz tunes. Quite simply, this is a night not to be missed.

Since its inception in 2014, JazzUp has become a cornerstone of the UK jazz scene, championing both established and emerging talent. Hosted monthly at Club85 in Hitchin, JazzUp is dedicated to showcasing the vibrant diversity of UK jazz music covering everything from classic to cutting-edge contemporary.

Tickets may also be purchased on the door, but please be aware that JazzUp can sometimes be very busy.
Age Restriction: 16+ with photo ID – younger patrons can be signed in at the door by a responsible adult. Like all our gigs, this show finishes well in time for the last trains North and South to Cambridge/Peterborough and London. Club85 is just a 5-minute stroll from the station.
