The new season of Jazzup returns with a real showstopper – the return of the mighty Ray Gelato!

Ray Gelato numbers amongst his fans great artists such as Van Morrison, Paul McCartney and Brian Adams.
For good reason; every concert, club date or event that Ray performs at transports one back in time to an era of music when musicians were not afraid to communicate and entertain.

The Godfather of Swing, Mr. Ray Gelato, has been taking his special brand of swing, jazz and R&B music all over the world since 1988. This multi-talented singer, saxman, songwriter and band leader has appeared at festivals, clubs and concert stages from Brazil to New York City.
Ray is a living legend in the music business and continues his illustrious and very successful career with boundless energy.Highlights include an ongoing (now 20 year), always sold-out residency at London’s world-famous Ronnie Scott’s.
He has also twice performed for the late HM The Queen, opened for Robbie Williams at the Albert Hall, and was chosen to play at Sir Paul McCartney’s wedding.

In addition, he has played most of the top international jazz festivals including Montreal, The Lincoln Centre in New York and numerous appearances at Umbria Jazz in Italy.

In 2022 Ray’s original song ‘Ding Ding’ was featured in the movie Lamborghini and the TV series The Godfather of Harlem.

Young, local rising star pianist Joe leads his trio for the whole season of JazzUps as part of our Youth Jazz initiative. This is enabled primarily by the proceeds from the JazzUp Spring Draw, which took place for the two limited edition Charlie Parker prints by artist (and
bassist of The Specials) Horace Panter.

Our resident JazzUP DJ Sten King delivers that unique JazzUp vibe. Sten is well known as a presenter of acclaimed hip hop radio shows such as ‘The Boom Bap Boutique’, and has built a reputation as the DJ that the musicians love as much as the audience.
