Trombonist, educator and composer Rory Ingham is a winner of the British Jazz Awards Rising Star award and presents a superb line-up playing music by the legendary Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.
Expect high-energy, swinging hard bop with a frighteningly fresh feel; played by the cream of UK jazz musicians.
London-based jazz star Rory graduated from The Royal Academy of Music with first class honours. He has played with internationally-acclaimed musicians such as Chris Potter, Dave Holland, Elliot Mason, Ingrid Jensen, Dennis Rollins, Newton Faulkner, Claire Martin, Alan Barnes, Liane Carroll, Dave Douglas, Evan Parker and Dave Liebman. He has also played with many ensembles including BBC Big Band, Mike Gibbs Big Band, Guy Barker Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Whirlwind Recordings Jazz Orchestra, Claire Teal Mini Big Band, London Concert Orchestra and Jonny Mansfield’s Elftet. He has performed at prestigious venues and festivals across Europe, including the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Jamboree (Barcelona) and the Royal Albert Hall, where he was a featured soloist.
In 2018, Rory set up his quartet that have since toured Europe and played at many highprofile British jazz festivals and venues including Love Supreme Festival, EFG London
Jazz Festival, Pizza Express Dean St. and Ronnie Scott’s. Rory was the featured artist in Jazzwise’s “Taking Off” section in summer 2019, and interviewed on BBC Radio
3 discussing his other project, Parliamentary Jazz Award nominated Bonsai who released a new album in 2019 on Ubuntu Music.

This is enabled primarily by the proceeds from the JazzUp Spring Draw, which took place for the two limited edition Charlie Parker prints by artist (and bassist of The Specials) Horace Panter.

well-known Hitchin figure as landlord of The Highlander Pub, one of the area’s top venues for live jazz.

Like all our gigs this show finishes well in time for the last trains North and South to Cambridge/Peterborough and London and we are just a 5 minute stroll from the station.
