We also have confirmation that the club will remain open until end of June 2025 whilst negotiations continue.

We’re excited to share the news below with you about the future of Club 85 and hope you’re equally excited to hear it!

For over 20 years Club 85 has been a grassroots venue at the heart of Hitchin’s music and cultural scene, hosting over 10,000 performances. The club is a pivotal part of many stories from performers, technicians and artists who have gone on to work as professionals in the creative industries. Not to mention thousands of happy audience members.

We are now working in conjunction with the current owner Jas to secure the future of the venue with a new independent ownership structure, creating an inclusive space and cultural hub that will broaden the building’s use and bring huge benefits to the community.

We are currently taking the next steps, with activities including:

1.⁠ ⁠Raising money to handle the initial set-up costs and professional fees. Many people are giving their time and services for free, and every penny donated helps.
2.⁠ ⁠Setting up a Not for Profit, Community Interest Company (CIC) and accessing grant funding alongside exploring forms of Community Ownership.

We aim to regularly communicate our progress and get input from the community, with the clear aim of creating a usable, sustainable resource for everyone’s benefit.
