Who we are
Club 85 CIC runs Club 85 and Bar 85 at 74-77 Whinbush Road, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, SG5 1PZ. We are a community interest company registered in England and Wales, company number 17190467. We are responsible for the personal information described on this page.
Any questions about your information: email info@club-85.co.uk, ring 01462 434801, or write to us at the address above.
What we collect and why
Tickets and merch
When you buy from us we take your name, email address and, if you give it, your mobile number. For merch we also need your postal address. We use these to take your order, send your tickets, put your name on the door list and tell you if a gig changes. We only use your mobile number if a gig changes.
Payments go through Stripe or PayPal. We never see or keep your full card details.
Why we can: we need this to sell you the ticket or item.
Gift tickets
If you buy a ticket for someone else, we take their name and, if you give them, their email address and your message. We use these to send them the ticket and put their name on the door list.
Why we can: we need this to carry out your order.
Door lists
On gig nights our door staff check people in from a list of names and order numbers. If you bought your ticket from See Tickets, they send us your name and order details for the same reason. See Tickets’ own privacy policy covers what they do with your information.
Why we can: we need this to let ticket holders in.
Waiting lists
When a gig sells out you can leave your email address to hear about returns. We only use it for that gig and delete it after the gig.
Why we can: you asked us to.
Mailing list
If you sign up, we keep your name, email address and the date you agreed. We send you new gigs and news from Club 85. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our emails, or by emailing us.
Why we can: you gave us your consent.
Messages and hire enquiries
When you contact us through the website we take your name, email address, phone number and message. For hire enquiries we also take the room, type of event, date and number of people. We use these to reply to you and, for hire, to put together a quote.
Why we can: you asked us to get back to you.
Cookies and Google Analytics
Some cookies are essential. They keep your basket and checkout working, and one called c85_consent remembers your cookie choice for six months. If you press the button to show a feed, one called c85_embeds remembers that.
Only if you say yes, we also use Google Analytics to see which pages and gigs people look at and how many tickets sell. Google Analytics uses cookies and sees your IP address and some details about your device and browser. We don’t use it for advertising.
Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud content only loads once you say yes, press play, or press the button on it to show it. Those sites can then set their own cookies.
You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Choosing Essential only turns Google Analytics and the feeds back off.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that help us run the website and the venue:
- Kinsta, who host our website on servers in London
- Stripe and PayPal, who take payments
- Google, for Google Analytics, only if you say yes
- our email provider, to send tickets and emails
- our accountants, who see order records when they prepare our accounts
We never sell your information. We only pass it to the police or other authorities where the law says we must.
Some of these companies may handle information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires.
How long we keep it
- Orders and payment records: 6 years, because tax law says we must
- Door lists: 12 months after the gig
- Waiting lists: deleted after the gig
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe
- Messages and hire enquiries: 2 years after we last hear from you
- Google Analytics: 14 months
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. You can also object to how we use it or ask us to stop using it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email info@club-85.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
